Why Was Inna Ataina Kal Kausar Revealed?

When the opponents of the faith thought Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had been entirely destroyed, Inna Ataina Kal Kausar was revealed.

His trade had been destroyed, he had been shut off from society, and his male offspring who may have carried on his name had passed away. He was now completely helpless and impotent.

Failure and disappointment would be his lot since the message he delivered was so unappealing that no one in Arabia, let alone Makkah, was willing to listen to it.

Why Is Surah Kausar Special?

As we had no other method of finding out about them, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) told us about them by claiming that Kausar had also hinted at them.

• On Resurrection Day, he will be given the Spring of Kauthar in the Plain of Assembly.
• Second, he will obtain the River Kauthar in Paradise.

Hadiths Related To Inna Ataina Kal Kausar

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said the following on the Kauthar Fountain:

(1) On the Day of the Resurrection, when the cry of Al-Atash, Al-Atash (thirst, thirst!) will be heard from all directions, this Fountain will be provided to him.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) people (umma) will gather before him and be watered as a result of it.

He will enter the scene first and grab the center spot.

He said, “This is a Fountain where my Ummah will congregate on the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim).

(2). Many narrators have assigned the Fountain various attributes.

(3). According to the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (ﷺ) description,

Its water will be cooler than snow, sweeter than honey, and whiter than milk (in some legends, whiter than silver, while in others, whiter than snow);
The ground underneath it will smell more enticing than musk, and the water jugs positioned nearby will be as many as the stars in the night sky.
Those who drink from it will never experience thirst, and others who are deprived of it will never experience it.

These things have been recounted in several Ahadiths, with slight variations in wording (Bukhari).

(4). The Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) frequently forewarned his people about it, saying:

“Those of you who would follow me in changing my Way will be prohibited from entering the Fountain and from doing so.

They are my companions, he will reply, but it will also be said:

“Do you have any idea what they did after you?

I will then throw them away and tell them to keep away.

(5). The Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) similarly forewarned Muslims who would adhere to him till the Resurrection, saying:

“Anyone who departs from my Way and brings about its alteration shall be cast out of the Fountain.

“O Allah, they are my people, the people of my Ummah,” I shall declare.

The comment will be, “Don’t you realize what changes they made after you and then turned around and left?”

Then I’ll do the same and keep them from getting close to the Fountain. There are several traditions on this topic in the Hadith (Bukhari).

The second verse of this outstanding Surah has been given a number of distinct interpretations by various scholars.

Some people believe that the Prayer refers to the five times of salat that are obligatory, while others believe it refers to the ‘Id al-Adha Prayer and still others believe it refers to the actual Prayer.

“O Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), lead the Prayer and give sacrifice alone for the sake of Your Allah, Who has showered Upon You Such Many Magnificent Blessings.”

• The term “Abtar” is also used to refer to a guy who has no male descendants or whose male child or children have passed away, making it impossible for anybody to remember him after his passing.

In virtually every one of these instances, the skeptic Quraish referred to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as Abtar.

Who were well-known not only in Makkah but all of Arabia, who had children, were successful in life, wealthy in material possessions, had companions and assistance all across the nation, had close ties to all the Arabian tribes, monopolized commerce, and oversaw Hajj would become Abtar.

But not long after that, everything changed. Many Arab and Jewish clans helped the Quraish conquer Madinah during the Battle of the Trench (A.H. 5).

And the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), who was under siege, was forced to defend the city by constructing a trench around the enemy stronghold. In A.H. 8, when he assaulted Makkah.

In barely three years, the Quraish were compelled to submit hopelessly because they had no ally.

After that, he took control of all of Arabia within a year or two, and tribes from all across the area sent delegates to him to seek pledges of loyalty, rendering his enemies entirely defenseless and without any means of resistance.
